What’s inside the Galerie Lafayette? An impressive, colorful Art Nouveau dome over the main floor – built in the 1920s, conceived by glass artist Jacques Gruber! There seems to be operatic inspiration from the nearby Paris Opera House.
Located in the shopping district of Paris, the Galerie Lafayette is a 5 min walk from the Paris Opera House (and its Metro station), and it’s one of the premier shopping department stores. It ranks up there with Selfridges and Harrods. The architecture of the store is art nouveau, with an impressive dome over the main floor, and a panoramic view of Paris that has made it a tourist attraction (wikipedia). Premier luxury brands from Hermes, LV, etc each have their own sizable boutique, and there’s a mini-line to be properly serviced. The rooftop has even a restaurant and viewing area.
