Yes, the Big Head represents Mondavi himself, and well-deserved. Probably the leading winemaker in Napa Valley, Robert Mondavi made Napa Valley well known as Wine Country. He was also instrumental on naming and selling wine by its DNA varietal, not by region (as done in France). That’s why we want to drink a Sauvignon Blanc or Merlot, named after the grapes. The Mondavi family has funded major wine, food and educational centers in Napa Valley.⠀
