Number 4. Number 4. Number 4…

Nyhavn, Copenhagen. This was stop #4 on my modest Around-the-World tour last summer. One of my favorite cities – the people are open and diverse, the architecture is AMAZING (Bjarke fan here), and everywhere is reachable by bicycle or scooters. Here is the famous Nyhavn, “New Harbor” – the famous postcard scene. All these ships will never sail the ocean as their masts make them locked in this canal by a permanent bridge on the right.⠀

The northern side of Nyhavn (in this photo) is lined by brightly coloured townhouses built with wood, bricks, and plaster. The oldest house, at No. 9, dates from 1681.⠀
Between 1845 and 1864, Hans Christian Andersen lived at No. 67, where a memorial plaque now stands. From 1871-1875 Andersen lived at Nyhavn 18,[3] which currently houses an Andersen-themed souvenir shop.⠀
The southern side of Nyhavn has lavish mansions lining the canal, including Charlottenborg Palace at the corner of Kongens Nytorv. – thanks, wikipedia.⠀
