This is Tim, and I want to invite you to join me on an adventure of fun and learning on 2 of my favorite subjects – photography and travel. For photography, I want to share my joy and knowledge, especially using a results-oriented approach. I will be posting a photo every 2 days (my challenge to myself) and at the same time, share what I do with a fun approach of improving your photography. We can put aside most of the super-technical details of cameras. and go back to first principles of light, aperture, composition and whatever camera you have at hand.
For my 2nd favorite subject of travel, let’s explore amazing places together – near and far. I’ll share tips on each location as well as our personal stories. I wouldn’t be replacing Rick Steves by any means, as my goal is to capture the beauty of the place and people.
This blog will be a salad of photos and places. So, come along for the ride and be sure to share this blog with others !
The headline photo above is the Temple of Heaven (Chinese: 天壇; pinyin: Tiāntán). It’s where the Emperor of China would pray for a good harvest in a long procession to and from the Forbidden Palace. Supposedly not a single nail was used in its construction. This was taken on a very cold November day about 15 min before closing. It felt like my daughter and I had the whole place to ourselves with no tour groups or noisy tourists all around.
Below is a photo overlooking Lake Wanaka in South Island, New Zealand. I was driving towards the Blue Pool and one has drive by 2 large lakes along the raised shoreline. One cannot help but stop every 15 min to take photos and enjoy the scenery. One quick aside to bring your bug deterrent, especially along the still beach areas.
